MARK YOUR CALENDAR
September 19–24, 2021
Three to Four weeks prior to the workshop…
Online session. We’ll meet online via Skype or Zoom for a brief “getting to know you” session. During this 30–45 minute session, we’ll look at 5–7 of your best images. This optional session helps me understand where you are in your photography and allows me to customize your experience.
Post-Workshop Online Session
Post-Production and Review. Between October 17 and November 30, 2021, we’ll meet again online, one-on-one, to discuss your images and post-production technique. A bonus group session may be possible if scheduling can be arranged.
Fill your memory cards... Fill your soul...
It's time to explore, learn, and fill your soul.
Physical Pace: We will plan to be up and out for sunrise shooting. We’ll then shoot til mid to late morning when we’ll have a lunch and relocate to the next location to shoot some more. We’ll then plan to shoot from mid afternoon to sunset. I do not plan to shoot at night as I desperately need my beauty rest 🙂
While on location our pace will be generally slower. Rushing the creative process is a bad habit to get into and we’ll focus more on getting the shot right rather than rushing through with a spray and pray attitude.
Location: We will start in Duluth, MN, then drive to Silver Bay and Grand Marais and everywhere in between.
Lodging: Hotels are limited in these regions. Upon registration, I’ll send you a PDF document that has all the lodging and logistics information detailed for you. Feel free to stay at an alternate location if you so desire. Lodging is not included with the workshop fee.
Transportation: Please plan to provide or arrange your own transportation. Once on site it’s up to you if you want to share driving responsibilities amongst yourselves.
Admission Fees: We plan to visit a lot of state parks which have parking fees. Parking and admission fees for you or your car are not part of the workshop fee. You may purchase an annual parking pass online which I plan to do.
Small Group: With a limit of 8, attendees you’re virtually guaranteed quality time with me and the other attendees. We will get to know each other pretty well.
Physical Requirements: All locations are accessible by passenger vehicle. In our pre-session meeting, I’ll ask about your hiking abilities. When I scout the week before the workshop, I can assess the best trails and locations according to the individual participants.
Computer Requirements: Bringing a computer with you is not necessary, but is welcome. I’ll happily provide post-processing tips while on-site.
Photos on this Page: The photos on this page are from other waterfalls. I’ve not yet been to Minnesota for photography. That’s why I’m going to spend the week prior to the workshop scouting and getting familiar with the region. I did this when I led a workshop in South Carolina a few years back and I’m confident we’ll do fine in Minnesota as well. Our schedule and general proximity to so many awesome sites means we simply won’t run out of options of things to photograph.
