DyeSub ICC profile for Amazon Panels

Description

Using an ICC profile helps guarantee excellent color for your specific media and printer combination. This profile is only good if you use the following products with the recommended settings.

Printer and Media

This ICC Profile is for the rather affordable Dye Sublimation panels sold by Amazon. With this link you can buy 4×6, 6×8, 8×10, or 11×14 inch panels. They are quite thin compared to ChromeLuxe panels, but they are also very affordable.

This profile only works if you have the Epson F170 or F570 printers.

You should also get the Epson transfer paper roll for the F570 or letter-size for the F170.

Recommended Settings

365º F at 70 seconds. Pressure setting on my heat press is level 2 (out of a total of 5). Yours might differ a bit. I would otherwise describe it as a medium pressure. 

Mac OS Installation of the profile

In Finder, move your pointer over the menu item named “GO” and click on it. Press the Option key and the “Library” item will appear. Click on “Library.”

Find the “ColorSync” folder and open it. Find the “Profiles” folder and copy this ICC Profile file to this folder. 

Open Photoshop or any other image editing program that you use to print and the profile will now be available to select when printing.

Note: This only makes the profile available for your current user account on your computer. If you have other users that will need access to this profile on this computer navigate to this folder and place the ICC profile there: Macintosh HD>Library>ColorSync>Profiles

Windows Installation of the profile

Locate the ICC profile in your downloads folder. Double click on it. Windows should automatically install it where it’s needed to use in Photoshop or any other print/image editing program.

Troubleshooting Ideas

Use of a profile is only helpful if you can eliminate as many variables as possible. This profile is only intended to work with the linked panels and these two Epson printers with the Epson transfer paper. Any deviation of these products will introduce variances and colors may not reproduce accurately. Additionally, variations in time, temperature, and pressure will give varying results too. 

If your print is too dark, try reducing your temperature or time. I would initially reduce time and leave temperature where it’s at. 

Also, consider the environment in which you’re printing. I performed this calibration at normal room temperature of about 72º Fahrenheit. If your panels are colder or warmer than this then you will have different results.

Updates

As this is a digital download it is subject to updates. This is the latest version of the profile. If I update the file you will be able to download the update without additional cost.
