We have a plot on our property called the “no till garden.” It’s a hold over from the previous owners. Each year we have a variety of volunteer veggies such as chard, onions and these beautiful allium. I’ve walked past these blossoms too many times without making a photograph, all the while I’m thinking about my approach and my composition. And when it’s time all I have to do is wait for the right light…

…On this cool morning the sun seemingly rose a little extra early. The sky was clear and I needed to work quickly. Thankfully our chicken barn provided a little extra shade even though it’s all the way across the creek.
I just love the radiance that comes from this subject. The color is radiant. The flower buds are radiant. And of course, the pattern the little stems create are radial, making for a glorious explosion of color.

I reserve the right to make additional artist prints of the photographs for training purposes and they will be destroyed once training is completed.
